Titans’ confirms the departure of back with immediate effect

The agreement is effective immediately.

The Gold Coast Titans have confirmed the immediate departure of centre Aaron Schoupp, who will join the Manly Sea Eagles on a two-year contract.

The new contract keeps Schoupp with the Sea Eagles until at least the end of the 2025 season. Schoupp comes to Manly at a time when the club is dealing with injuries, with Tom Trboejvic leading the way. Manly will also be without Jason Saab until at least Round 14, as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

According to Anthony Seibold, Schoupp’s addition will increase the club’s depth. “Aaron adds depth to our squad, as we currently have a few injuries to our outside backs,” Seibold said in a statement confirming the announcement. “We feel like he is a good addition to our playing group.”

Schoupp, a former youngster in the Illawarra region, made his NRL debut with the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2021, playing 32 games. He then joined the Gold Coast Titans, but has struggled to play consistently for the club, appearing in only 20 games over his season and a half at Parkwood, with only two of those coming during the first 11 rounds of the season, the most recent of which occurred on Saturday during a Magic Round loss to the Newcastle Knights.

Schoupp is expected to be eligible for selection by Seibold for Manly this weekend, as the team prepares to face the Melbourne Storm in a high-stakes contest.

The Titans, in a short statement, congratulated Schoupp for his time with the team and noted the release from his contract had been granted after Schoupp requested to pursue chances with the Sea Eagles.
