The 6’6″, 210-pound prospect attended Oak Ridge in Orlando, near his origins of Bradenton, Florida. Jones’ recruitment process was protracted, and it eventually came down to a select few colleges. The finalists included South Carolina, Louisiana State University, Ohio State, and Kansas, as well as English’s Friars. With the Gamecocks looming as the strong favourite in Columbia, Jones decided the culture at Providence was too appealing to pass up.

Jamier Jones averaged 19.2 points, 3.2 assists, and 8.5 rebounds per game in his junior year at Oak Ridge. Jamier’s length on the wing gives him an intriguing potential. With a big name added to their scholarship roster for the upcoming season, other top prospects will be interested in what the Friars have to offer. The 2025 Top 20 recruit has made several visits to Providence, the most recent being this past spring. The five-star’s most recent trip to the Ocean State was to seal his decision to stay in Friartown. Jamier was most influenced by the passion of the supporters during his decision-making process.

With Oswin on the verge of becoming a 2024 reclass to join the Friars for the following season, the big man’s options will remain open. While laying the groundwork for the 2025 class, this will aim to attract more recruits to Providence for the class. The Friars’ next target is Massachusetts native Jaylen Harrell, who is considering Rutgers, Virginia Tech, and Providence, among other options. Coach English’s attraction to Providence is undeniable, as he seeks to add another star to their class.
