Defender responds in two words to Sheffield Wednesday’s “vital” away victory over Stoke.

Stoke City vs Sheffield Wednesday on 09 Dec 23 - Match Centre - Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday moved off the bottom of the table with another incredible win today.

Sheffield Wednesday now sit in 23rd, leapfrogging South Yorkshire neighbours Rotherham United after a 1-0 win at Stoke City.

Anthony Musaba came off the bench to net a late winner for the Owls who are now three-games unbeaten, and on back-to-back wins.

Danny Rohl is earning huge praise for this turnaround in form and so too are the players, who dug deep to produce a ‘huge result’ today, as per journalist Rob Staton.

Bambo Diaby reacts to Sheffield Wednesday win at Stoke City

The Spanish defender has been a source of criticism this season.

He’s been a regular starter throughout having been favoured by both Xisco Munoz and now Rohl, but there’s been cries for Diaby to be dropped throughout.

Today though, he produced another solid performance, making more clearances than anyone on the pitch (7) with two tackles to his name as well (Sofascore).

After the game, Diaby posted this reaction to the win on his Instagram story.

Sheffield Wednesday getting better and better

This upturn in form is no mistake. Sheffield Wednesday are playing much better as a team and as individuals.

And Diaby is starting to prove his worth.

Although he’ll continue to divide opinion, he’s played a huge role in the past three games, dominating in defence and showing his importance under Rohl.

Like many others, he’s kept his head down and worked on his performances, with Sheffield Wednesday now starting to look like a proper team.

It seems like there’s a great mood amongst the players and that will be vital in their fight for survival this season.

Just eight points now separate the Owls and Darren Moore’s Huddersfield Town.

There’s a huge way to go yet and many more wins like today’s are needed to give Sheffield Wednesday even a chance of survival.

But the players and Rohl are doing all they can, and they’re reaping the rewards of their efforts.

Up next is a trip to Norwich City on Wednesday.

The Canaries aren’t enjoying a great season either and currently sit in 13th place of the table after a goalless draw v Preston today, but the Canaries have now lost just one of their last five in the Championship.
