Transfer Portal: Good news as Texas confirms another potential commitment from Oklahoma Sooners

Jermayne Lole, one of the Oklahoma Sooners’ newest defensive linemen, has switched his commitment from Oklahoma to the Texas Longhorns through the transfer portal. Lole confirmed the move on social media. He travels south to Austin before ever playing a snap for the Sooners. Both programmes are starting their first seasons in the SEC. Lole committed to the Sooners through the transfer portal on April 22, but the senior, who has one year of eligibility remaining, has changed his mind only two and a half weeks later.

Lole excelled at Arizona State before being sidelined for several seasons due to injury. As a true sophomore in 2019, Lole had 10 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. He played for Louisville in 2023, making 19 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. Brent Venables and his staff added many high-profile players to the Oklahoma defensive line throughout the 2024 recruiting and portal cycles, including Lole. However, the signing of Damonic Williams last week has created a bit of a defensive tackle logjam. It’s a good problem to have, but it can lead to situations like this one. He will now suit up in burnt orange for Steve Sarkisian, and the Sooners will face Lole on October 12th in Dallas.
