BREAKING NEWS: The decision  making and the star Transfer implications…

Transfer implications for Warrington Wolves star as Sam Burgess makes decision

Leon Hayes has been a revelation for Warrington Wolves this season, bursting onto the scene to nail down a first-team spot. However, a horror injury to the youngster’s ankle, suffered in Warrington’s defeat against Salford Red Devils, has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

With Hayes on the sidelines, head coach Sam Burgess has brought Josh Drinkwater in from the cold, just days after he was linked with a transfer away from the club.

Drinkwater last featured for Warrington in their win over Castleford Tigers at the start of March. Drinkwater limped off in the second half of that game with a thigh injury. His injury opened the door for Hayes to secure his place in the side. He formed an excellent partnership with England captain, George Williams, and has since kept Drinkwater out of the team despite the Australian returning from injury.

However, Hayes’ injury will give Drinkwater the opportunity to reclaim in his place. Drinkwater has been recalled to the Warrington 21 man squad for their game against Hull FC this weekend. The club recently confirmed they had fielded loan inquiries for Drinkwater. They rejected these advances, as they wanted Drinkwater to provide cover. Drinkwater will leave the club at the end of the season when his current contract expires.

Drinkwater was a regular presence for the Wire last year. He played 23 times in a difficult season for the Wolves. Warrington’s poor form saw Daryl Powell sacked as head coach mid-season.
