Injury Update: Alabama Had Numerous Players Out Against Kentucky
Nick Saban updated the team’s status following the Crimson Tide’s 49-21 win against the Wildcats
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Alabama was without its leading receiver in Saturday’s road win at Kentucky. The Crimson Tide was also down two starters on defense and another wide receiver.
“We had more guys out today than probably ever before,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said after the game.
Jermaine Burton was out with a sickness. Ja’Corey Brooks was out with a shoulder injury. And linebacker Deontae Lawson and safety Jaylen Key were out with the injuries sustained in the LSU game.
“Jermaine was so sick he didn’t even make the trip,” Saban said. “Hopefully he’ll get better and that won’t be a long term thing.”
This season, Burton has 26 catches for 537 yards and five touchdowns. In his absence, Alabama had 10 different players catch at least one pass against Kentucky.
Saban said Lawson and Key are day-to-day as Alabama heads into Chattanooga week.
