Blueliner Saginaw Spirit The Ontario Hockey League has suspended James Guo indefinitely for slashing forward Travis Hayes of the Soo Greyhounds in the head.

Guo made this play far away from the puck, and it didn’t seem at all accidental. Guo was given a serious five-minute penalty on this play and was substituted out of the game. This play didn’t seem essential at all, and Guo has since removed himself for the duration of the series, if not longer.

Now, we know that the OHL took further disciplinary action. Here is the play that resulted in the suspension to Guo:

This second round series between the Soo Greyhounds and Saginaw Spirit has quickly become a vicious one. There have been many violent plays, and potentially other plays that could have been suspendable. It is a very physical series, not one where players can hide.
