Last year’s NBA Finals MVP has Denver poised for another deep playoff run.
Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic led Denver to a history-making season in 2023 that was capped off by the franchise’s first NBA title. One year later, the Nuggets are in a great position for another deep playoff run and potentially back-to-back championships after grabbing the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
Jokic, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, had another regular season putting up big numbers, averaging 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 9 assists per game. Jokic is now the odds-on favorite for another MVP in the Western Conference Finals.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Jokic is an overwhelming favorite to be named the Western Conference Finals MVP at +160 ($100 bet wins $160), which is an implied probability of 38.46% that Jokic will hoist the Earvin “Magic” Johnson Trophy.
The second-favorite for the Western Conference Finals MVP is Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at a distant 7-to-1 (+700).
Jokic won the award last year in leading Denver to its first-ever NBA Finals appearance with a four-game sweep of the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. In that series, Jokic averaged 27.8 points, 14.5 rebounds and 11.8 assists per game.
