One of the biggest names in rugby sevens, Nathan-Wong makes the highly anticipated move across the ditch to link up with the Dragons for her debut NRLW season in 2023.

A two-time winner of the New Zealand Sevens Player of the Year, Nathan-Wong made her Sevens debut as a teenager back in 2012 and has gone on to represent her country on 195 occasions including at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Sevens Rugby World Cups.

She helped the Black Ferns Sevens take home gold at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games before defending their crown at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The 29-year-old is looking forward to partnering reigning Dally M Medallist Raecene McGregor in the halves as she looks to leave her mark on the 13-a-side game.

The Dragons are pleased to announce that New Zealand international Tyla King has agreed to a contract extension that will see her remain with the club until at least the end of the 2025 NRLW season.

The 29-year-old appeared in all nine games for the Dragons in 2023 after making the switch from Rugby Sevens prior to the season.

With two New Zealand Sevens Player of the Year nods, a World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year gong, and an Olympic Gold Medalist under her belt, King made her international rugby league debut for the Kiwi Ferns at the end of last year and helped lead her country to wins over Tonga and Australia.

King – who changed her surname from Nathan-Wong after getting married over the summer – is thankful to be extending her career at the Red V.

“I’m so excited to be back with the Dragons,” King said.

“I absolutely loved my time last season with the team and knew it wouldn’t be a one-and-done type thing. I’ve still got so much to learn in the sport and I’m super excited to continue that growth with the team and Sowie.”

Dragons NRLW head coach Jamie Soward is extremely pleased to have had his five-eighth re-commit to the club for a further two seasons.

“Her making the decision last year to join the Dragons was a really proud one that I didn’t take lightly, and the club understood how important that was,” Soward said.

“For her to go and represent her country at the Olympics and decide she’s going to finish up her sporting career at the Dragons shows where the club is at. It shows how much we look after our players and that we want them to be the best, but we also want them to get better.

“We can’t wait to have Tyla back for another two years. She had a great first NRLW season capped off with beating the Jillaroos in the halves with Raecene. It’s really exciting that we get to have Tyla back and what she means to our club and her professionalism going forward is something that we’re really proud of.”
