The Providence Friars suspended one of its players indefinitely following sordid charges.

Alyn Breed, who played for three seasons under Ed Cooley, was charged Saturday with a number of gun and domestic offenses. The Providence-based news station WJAR described Breed “pointing a gun at a woman.”

The Friars produced a press release announcing Breed’s suspension and condemning the actions he’s been charged with.

“It was announced [Saturday] by the Providence Police Department that Providence College student-athlete Alyn Breed was charged with several crimes for actions that occurred off campus on Saturday, April 1,” the school began.

“As a result of these charges…Breed is suspended from the men’s basketball team and will not be allowed to participate in any other athletic department-related activities. [Providence] will follow its student-conduct disciplinary process regarding this matter. At this time, there will not be any further comment.”

While the school is still determining next steps as Breed’s legal process plays out, the third-year player’s bio page has been removed from Providence’s website.
