Arnold and Leduc Added to Long-Term Injured List
Spokane, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs announced on Monday that 2002-born goalie Campbell Arnold and 2000-born defenseman Matt Leduc have both been added to the club’s long-term injured reserve list and will be inactive for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
“It’s an unfortunate situation for both Campbell and Matt to be in,” said Chiefs general manager Scott Carter. “Both are tremendous competitors and clearly wish they could continue, but the best course of action is for them to have their injuries repaired so they can return to form at full strength in the future.”
Arnold, a rookie 17-year-old goalie from Nanaimo, B.C., suffered a knee injury at Seattle on December 26, exiting the game just 1:17 into regulation. In 22 appearances this season, the former second-round bantam pick registered an outstanding 2.59 GAA and .902 SV%, securing a 10-8-1-1 record.
Leduc, a 19-year-old veteran rearguard, has not played since the mid-season holiday break after aggravating a shoulder injury versus Victoria on Dec. 18. The 6-foot-5 Richmond, B.C. native eclipsed his previous career highs with two goals and six assists for eight points and a plus-six rating in only 27 games played this season. Leduc has appeared in 153 regular season games for the Chiefs over four seasons dating back to 2016.
“We wish both Campbell and Matt the very best as they work through the recovery process,” added Carter. “We have great confidence in our medical and training staff, and we look forward to seeing both players back on the ice next season.”
The long-term injured reserve list requires a minimum of one month of inactivity. While on the list, players do not count toward the club’s active roster or overage player limits.
Chiefs forward and San Jose Sharks prospect Jake McGrew was added to the Chiefs’ injured list earlier this season after suffering a knee injury that required surgery.
