NBL news 2022: Sydney Kings star Xavier Cooks reveals why he chose New Zealand comp over NBA Summer League | Daily TelegraphUnder Brian Goorjian, the Sydney Kings have started to consolidate their lineup. The team has re-signed championship forward Kouat Noi to a three-year contract. There will be a club option in the third season.

Arriving before their NBL23 season under former head coach Chase Buford, the former Taipan was an important member of the Kings’ bench behind Xavier Cooks as they attempted to win back-to-back titles.

In 25 games during Sydney’s NBL24 season, he scored 10 points per, helping the Kings lose to New Zealand in the Play-In round.

Being able to play in front of all of my friends and family as well as the greatest supporters in the nation has made the last two seasons in Sydney the best two of my basketball career to date, Noi stated. It was an obvious choice for me to return to the Kings.

“I’m confident I can take more games to an even higher level over the next few years because the club, from the coaching staff to the strength and conditioning team to the front office, has put me in the best position to succeed on the court.”

Noi credited Goorjian’s arrival for being a major factor in his decision to rejoin the team.

“Goorj’s record speaks for itself and I have no doubt that I will flourish under him as a player,” he said.

“He knows what it takes to win in this league and I have complete faith that he is going to put me and our whole team in the best position to succeed and bring home another championship to Sydney.

“I have high ambitions of where I want to get to in my basketball journey and with this great club and Goorj beside me, I’m confident I’ll be able to achieve them.”

In the upcoming NBL1 North season, Noi will also be playing for the Darwin Salties alongside teammate King Makuach Maluach.

The 26-year-old declared, “I’m taking my work this off-season very seriously.”

“I’m going to work as hard as I possibly can while I’m in Darwin to make sure I’m in the greatest shape possible going into pre-season.

“Kings fans should expect a whole different beast when I return to Sydney for NBL25.”
