Reporter reacts to ‘devastating’ news as West Brom share payer’s update

CLUB STATEMENT: CARLOS CORBERÁN RESIGNS - News - Huddersfield Town

Journalist Jonny Drury responded to the “devastating” announcement that Matt Phillips, the star player for West Brom, will be out for another spell.

Carlos Corberan predicted on Wednesday, December 6, that Phillips would miss about four months of action, as stated on Albion’s official website.

The versatile midfielder, who suffered a hamstring injury during last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Leicester City, is dealt yet another setback.

Express & Star reporter Drury responded to the news on his personal Twitter account on December 6th, saying, “Devastating for Phillips.”

One more layoff.

This season, Phillips has appeared in all 19 of Albion’s Championship games, starting all but one of them.

That proves how crucial he has been to Corberan, especially since he can fill in a lot of holes.

Matt Phillips: West Bromwich Albion forward news new three-year contract - Nigeriasoccernet NewsBy the time he returns, the 32-year-old will be 33 years old, so he’s not exactly a spring chicken, and this layoff has happened at a terrible time.

To keep the Baggies in contention for promotion to the Premier League, Corberan needs to use every player available during the busiest month of the season.

Phillips’ tenure at The Hawthorns may come to an end as a result of this since his contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Regretfully, the former QPR winger is not dependable for an entire season as he missed four months of the previous one as well.

For the time being, though, it’s crucial that Phillips fully recovers so he can hopefully participate in the season’s last month.
