Report: Vanderbilt transfer Will Sheppard receives Rebels offer.

Will Sheppard: Becoming his best self - The Vanderbilt Hustler

For college players who have accessed the transfer portal, the offers are coming in. Wide receiver Will Sheppard of Vanderbilt was one of the prominent names from the Southeastern Conference that entered. Ole Miss made him an offer yesterday.

Teams scrambled to make offers for wide receiver Will Sheppard of Vanderbilt when he officially appeared on the transfer portal.

Will Sheppard has offers from Texas A&M, South Carolina, Auburn, Mississippi State, and other schools in addition to Ole Miss.

Sheppard joined the Commodores four seasons ago as a three-star recruit in the 2020 class. In his rookie campaign, the Louisiana native redshirted and managed just two receptions for thirty receiving yards.

Sheppard caught 150 passes for 2,037 yards and 21 touchdowns over 34 career games in his three seasons following his redshirt year. He placed second among wide receivers in touchdowns and ninth in receiving yards in the SEC in 2022.

Dayton Wade’s decision to take a chance in the NFL leaves the Rebels’ receiver room light-hearted. This is prior to learning Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins’ decision.

Yesterday evening, Ole Miss did add a receiver to their room. The four-star JUCO player Deion Smith was selected by the Rebels. Smith transferred out of LSU in 2021 and attended Holmes Community College instead.

If Ole Miss can convince Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins to return for another season, along with the addition of Deion Smith, the Rebels will have a potent wide receiving group. For any opposing defensive back, the possibility of Will Sheppard attending Oxford is unsettling.

According to 247Sports, Will Sheppard is the seventh-best receiver in the portal. Regardless of where he ends up, he will still be eligible for one year.

Even though the transfer portal cycle is still early, Kiffin is making offers. Ole Miss is hoping to add a couple of major players.
