The South Korean was on target for the eighth time in the competition this season, striking just before half-time after a brilliant double save by Dan Bentley moments before.

Six of Hwang‘s eight goals have come at home, and it’s clear he absolutely relishes playing in front of the Molineux faithful.

Hwang is in the form of his life right now, and it is very heartwarming to see considering he’s a player who hasn’t always convinced at the club and has had some tough times.

Simply put, Wolves must now strike while the iron is hot – Hwang’s Wolves contract must be extended.

Hwang Hee-chan will be attracting attention, Wolves need to extend his contract.

How Wolves can benefit from Hwang Hee-chan's rise - The AthleticScoring eight Premier League goals by early December is going to get you noticed. That just comes with the territory.

It has previously been reported that plenty of clubs have liked Hwang. This was in the summer window just gone, which was long before the 27-year-old came into this purple patch.

Given how well he has played this season and how productive he has been, one can only imagine the level of interest now.

Hwang has demonstrated a tremendous eye for goal, and of all the players on the Premier League top goalscorers list on BBC Sport, he has the joint-third highest goal conversation rate with 38%. Only Alexander Isak (41%) and Joao Pedro (42%) have higher.

38% is higher than the only three players to have scored more Premier League goals than him, Erling Haaland, Mo Salah and Heung-min Son.

Gary O’Neil recently raved over Hwang, calling him ‘excellent’ and noting his tactical intelligence, and of course, Wolves fans know that the star has always worked his socks off for the team.

So, the former RB Leipzig man has several amazing qualities and there is just no way that there aren’t other clubs looking at him right now.

Therefore, it is important that Wolves now make some headway with the talks over giving Hwang a new contract. Negotiations were said to have commenced recently.

The £30,000-a-week player seems to be very happy at Wolves and is obviously adored by the fans. But if he does not extend by January and another team comes calling, who is to say he won’t have his head turned?

Wolves fans would like to hope that will not be the case. But it won’t even get that far if Wolves can reach an agreement with Hwang and his representatives.

A new contract would serve to protect a major asset to the club, and Hwang really just deserves fresh terms for what he has done this season.
