Wolverhampton Wanderers’ third-choice goalkeeper, Tom King, has signed a new contract, extending his stay at the club for three and a half years.

The 28-year-old has committed to Wolves until 2027, with the option of an additional year included in the deal.

Despite joining from Northampton Town last summer, King has yet to make his senior debut for Wolves. However, his conduct and dedication at Wolves’ Compton training ground have not gone unnoticed.

Sporting director Matt Hobbs highlighted the significance of creating a cohesive culture within the team and training ground. He praised King as a prime example of a player who embodies the values they aim to cultivate. Hobbs emphasized King’s commitment, intensity in training, work ethic, and personality as instrumental in driving this culture forward.

Hobbs stated, “We’re trying to create a culture, a togetherness within the training ground and the team, and the team is really connected to the fans, and part of creating that culture is generally the players not at the forefront of everything and nobody epitomises someone that drives a culture through his intensity in training every day, his work ethic and his personality more than Kingy.”

The decision to extend King’s contract reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities and his positive impact within the squad. His dedication to the team’s principles and his ability to contribute positively to the team’s spirit make him a valuable asset for Wolves moving forward.

This contract renewal signifies more than just securing a player for the future; it is also an acknowledgment of King’s character and his role in shaping the team’s ethos and identity.
