Marti Cifuentes: What is actually moving QPR forward from ‘bad dynamic’.

QPR hire Marti Cifuentes following Gareth Ainsworth sacking | LiveScoreAccording to manager Marti Cifuentes of Queens Park Rangers, the club is eschewing a “bad dynamic” by taking “small steps” each day.

Rangers defeated Preston North End 2-0 on Friday to win their first back-to-back match of the season.

That followed a 12-match winless streak that was stopped with a 4-2 victory over Stoke City.

“It’s challenging to join a team in the middle of the season when there is a poor dynamic,” Cifuentes stated to BBC Radio London.

“Every day, I observe little changes in how they exercise and how we want to play.

“I’m especially pleased for the identity of the team.”

Paul Smyth and Chris Willock goals in the second half gave the team the victory at Deepdale, but Cifuentes feels the opening 45 minutes of play fell well short of his expectations.

“The team understood we needed to do more and when we scored the first goal (at Preston) we chased the second – that is a very healthy signal about a side that wants to play football in a certain way,” the Spaniard, who is 41 years old, said.

“That is understanding as well that we have to work hard and to understand the picture of the game as it was in the first half.”

On October 30, Cifuentes took over as manager in lieu of Gareth Ainsworth. This past week, Cifuentes expressed his desire to emulate the aggressive style of play that previous England manager Terry Venables left behind at Loftus Road.

“We are starting to see some signals but I want to see us play better -the way we defend and attack and make transitions – there is still a way to go to see the expression we want as a team,” Cifuentes stated.

QPR’s next two home games are against Plymouth on Wednesday, December 13, and Hull City on Saturday.
