2024 NBA Trade Deadline: Golden State Warriors expectations.

Golden State Warriors mediocrity is rooted in on-court chemistry issues

We are on the brink of the NBA trade deadline, with expectations that the Golden State Warriors would be actively reshaping their roster. However, it appears that significant changes are unlikely.

The focal point of speculation leading up to the deadline has been Andrew Wiggins, whose performance this season has been surprisingly underwhelming. Despite this, trading him presents challenges, especially considering his hefty contract and the hope that he might bounce back. Recent signs of improvement in Wiggins’ play suggest the Warriors believe retaining him could yield greater value than trading him.

However, Wiggins’ future with the team remains uncertain in the long term. Reports suggest the Warriors will postpone tough roster decisions until the offseason, which may involve evaluating Chris Paul’s situation. While Paul’s expiring contract could offer financial relief through a trade, his on-court contribution and impending return make such a move counterproductive for the team’s competitiveness and morale.

Speculation surrounding trades involving other key players like Klay Thompson seems unfounded, as the team sees value in their contributions despite recent struggles. Additionally, trading away their best assets such as Stephen Curry, Jonathan Kuminga, and Brandin Podziemski wouldn’t benefit the team’s short-term or long-term prospects.

The only conceivable move that wouldn’t be surprising is trading Cory Joseph, given his diminished role in the team. However, even this option is not highly probable, as it wouldn’t result in substantial financial savings for the Warriors.

In summary, while trade rumors swirl, it’s unlikely that significant changes will occur for the Warriors before the deadline.
