Throughout Nick Saban’s reign of terror at Alabama, there have been several noteworthy teams. No matter what occurs next, people will always adore this one.
They were open to attack. They were not immortal. They worked miracles. Even so, they destroyed Georgia’s hopes of remaining unbeaten in an SEC championship match that will live in history.
Once more, the Imperfects did it. It is impossible to oppose this Alabama squad of destiny.
Many had their doubts about this team. The game’s MVP, quarterback Jalen Milroe of Alabama, stated, “I didn’t give up on this team.” “The most important thing we did was to tell our doubters.”
I was one of the numerous people who had doubts. But that’s what makes sports so amusing. I love this team even more because of all those shortcomings and uncertainties.
This group of Christians from Alabama will always be known as champions, regardless of what happens in the future.
Oh, and the squad that broke Georgia’s 29-game winning streak—an SEC record.
Georgia is 0-4 all-time versus Alabama in games that decide the winner of the most competitive college football league, despite having won two consecutive national titles.
This most recent SEC heavyweight bout also has the feel of a classic battle.
Will Alabama’s victory over Georgia, 27-24, be sufficient to guarantee the Crimson Tide a spot in the College Football Playoff? Although I don’t know the solution, I do know that this team recently achieved something that hadn’t been done in the previous two years. If the goal of the exercise is to identify the top four teams in the nation, I might argue that Alabama ought to be ranked number one now.
Since the SEC championship matchup against Alabama in 2021, Georgia has not dropped a single game. It was a successful run. That was Georgia football’s heyday. Before this game, Georgia was the best team in the nation. Some stronger dogs muzzled UGA and reminded everyone in the nation of a crucial reality.
The SEC is still led by Alabama.
But does college football still get governed by the SEC? State it this way. If the SEC is excluded from the College Football Playoff committee’s four-team playoff, it would be a first. However, given that Alabama is rated No. 8 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, there’s still a chance that occurs.
Alabama may not have been among the top four teams in the nation the previous week, but they certainly looked the part on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, home of the Bulldogs. With two teams at LSU, Saban has now coached 11 SEC championship teams. This is the case for his 2023 Alabama Imperfects team. Although they suffered one of the worst home defeats in head coach Nick Saban’s powerful reign to begin this tumultuous season, Alabama ended the SEC with the greatest win of any team in the nation.
Texas surprised Alabama on September 9th, 34–24. The Longhorns’ victory over Alabama is now ranked as the second-best of any team in the nation, based on what we’ve seen. Given that they both won their conferences, they both ought to be in the College Football Playoff. I think it would be great to have Texas and Alabama play again in the College Football Playoffs.
That the committee was unaware of Alabama prior to their triumph against Georgia makes sense. It is no longer possible to deny or dismiss the Crimson Tide. Because quarterback Jalen Milroe currently appears to be the top player in the nation, head coach Nick Saban has had one of his best seasons to date.
Or is that Isaiah Bond, the receiver?
After the past two games, I wouldn’t be shocked if Bond appeared on a few Heisman Trophy ballots at this point.

Perhaps, but Georgia isn’t the greatest team in the SEC anymore. What we previously believed to be the end of a dynasty feels more like a college football dream now that Alabama is back. Whatever people may believe or say, Saban’s squad demonstrated its mettle in the most important situation—on the pitch, against the team deemed the best in the nation by the College Football Playoff selection committee.
This club is nonetheless worthy of greatness despite the fact that we have never seen an Alabama contender quite like it.
