There is optimism that the decades-long ineptitude of the Commanders may soon come to an end as  new ownership group has taken control.

The Top Contenders To Purchase the Washington CommandersThis season, the Washington Commanders are essentially starting over as a new ownership group has taken over for the contentious Daniel Snyder.

With NBA great Magic Johnson and billionaire businessman Josh Harris leading this new group, there is hope that the franchise’s decades-long incompetence may soon come to an end.

Although the Commanders are now 4-8 and unlikely to make the playoffs this year, they do have a young starting quarterback Sam Howell and other components to develop around.

According to Nicki Jhabvala, Harris acknowledged that it will be “a long journey” to elevate the squad from a borderline postseason contender.

Washington finished 8-8-1 the previous season and almost missed the playoffs; however, Howell was limited to playing in and starting the season’s last game.

Howell, a fifth-round selection in the 2022 draught, is dominating the league in passing yards and completion percentage this season. However, through Wednesday, he also held the record for interceptions made and sacks recovered.

The former owner of the Commanders, Snyder, was involved in a number of scandals, including claims of sexual misconduct and a poisonous work atmosphere.

In the NFL, rebuilding may take a very long time. However, Harris and Johnson appear dedicated to getting the Commanders back to the kind of respect and success they had on a regular basis in the 1980s and early 1990s.

In sharp contrast to the three Super Bowl titles they earned during their heyday, they have only made the playoffs six times in the previous thirty years.
