Two of the best defensive prospects in the country are trending for Georgia.

Ways to Give - The Georgia Bulldog Club - The Georgia Bulldog Club

Kirby Smart and Georgia have established themselves as the best football programmes in the country by consistently fielding top-tier defences.

With Georgia poised to produce another stellar class in 2025, the Bulldogs are hoping to build on their No. 1 recruiting class from 2024. In order for that to occur, Smart and Co. will need to secure the Peach State, which has nine players listed in the top 50 in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Two of the top five in-state prospects, defensive lineman Justus Terry and tight end Elyiss Williams, have already committed to UGA, and the university is in the running for two more.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) projects five-star defensive lineman Elijah Gryphon and five-star plus+ linebacker Zayden Walker to sign with the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs battling Miami, FSU and more for Walker

Since September, when On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons registered an expert prediction in favour of the Bulldogs, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Walker has been leaning towards Georgia. During the season, he was on the verge of committing to UGA, but decided to wait and take his time recruiting.

Simmons stated at the time that “at different times, there have been different programmes competing with Georgia for the top spot on Walker’s list.” However, Georgia has consistently been at the top or very close to it. Early on, South Carolina was seen to be a serious contender. Walker has made multiple appearances on the Florida State campus. Miami emerged over the summer. The three programmes are still in place, as are the others, but they were all initially aimed for Georgia.

Walker visited Georgia earlier this month after naming Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina, Penn State, and Miami as his preferred colleges for the next fall semester.

Over the next few days, he is anticipated to visit Florida State (January 20), Miami (January 27), and South Carolina (February 3).

Five-Star Plus+ DL following a recent trip to Athens

Gryphon, on the other hand, recently returned from a trip to Athens. Additionally, Georgia is gaining ground on Clemson, Alabama, and numerous other schools for the nation’s top defensive lineman.

With Gryphon, Simmons recorded a pick on Monday afternoon that put the Bulldogs well ahead of the competition in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

In his explanation of the selection, Simmons stated, “Going into this weekend, I have viewed Georgia as the favourite to land Gryphon.” “The excitement around the Bulldogs is even higher after this past weekend. It was Griffin’s first time seeing his grandmother on campus. In Athens, his little sister adored it. Georgia remains in a strong position to get the top prospect in their state, and his mother feels quite at ease with the staff.

I have put Georgia as my pick on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine after speaking with sources. Georgia’s main rival is thought to be South Carolina. Gryphon will be at Florida this weekend and Clemson the following day, January 27. Gryphon may choose to commit early even though he has always stated that he will make a decision later in the process. That is still a topic of discussion.
