Ranger set to accept £4.3 million offer for player, either on a loan-to-buy or permanent basis – report

Rangers announce slim profit as annual accounts published by Ibrox club | STV News

The insistence of Yagiz Sabuncuoglu is that Ridvan Yilmaz’s group has not yet reached a consensus with Galatasaray on a January transfer out of Rangers.

The Turkish defender has been linked to transfers to Verona and Galatasaray thus far this month. According to rumours, the Turkish powerhouse would be interested in signing him on a first loan agreement after they had already worked out personal conditions [Milliyet, 17 January].

The defender, according to Turkish journalist Sabuncuoglu, has “no desire” to leave the Light Blues before the end of January, and the team would only permit the left-back to leave for a price as high as £4.3 million [€5 million] this month.

He made the following statement on January 17 on the Sports Digitale YouTube channel: “He turned down Galatasaray’s offer. Ridvan Yilmaz is still playing right now, and Philippe Clement doesn’t want to lose him to Galatasaray on loan. We don’t currently have an arrangement with any teams, Ridvan’s entourage informed me when I spoke with them as well.

Let me explain: Galatasaray must lend him money through an ordered purchase. They don’t dip below €5m because of this. They will approve his sale and release him if a direct payment of at least €5 million is received. For now though, Ridvan is having fun.

“Ridvan is a professional on the present team that the Rangers are currently in need of. Although there isn’t a circumstance where they wish to get rid of Ridvan, that is the perception.

“The Verona move has been discussed; let’s not overlook them. They will purchase Ridvan if they sell their left back. The foreign press has reported on the cancellation of that move.

No desire

In a perfect scenario, Rangers would prefer to extend the January transfer window at Ibrox and retain Yilmaz there. There are still plenty of choices for Clement to choose from at full-back, and the Belgian cannot afford to lose both Borna Barisic and the Turkish defender in the same season.

But if a sizable offer is made, such as the £4.3 million that Sabuncuoglu has suggested, a deal might be reached—as long as the Gers make a respectable amount of money.

Rangers are in a strong negotiation position because of Clement’s unwillingness to sell and the fact that Yilmaz and Galatasaray have not been able to come to an agreement regarding the personal aspects of a transfer.

The Light Blues should be able to recoup a good amount of money for his services even if they are unable to keep him at Ibrox past the January transfer window.
