The Winnipeg Blue Bombers agreed to a new contract to bring back one of the finest offensive linemen in CFL history, and after a two-week break, they started signing their pending free agents.

Stanley Bryant, a left lineman, inked a one-year contract extension with the Bombers to play for the team for a ninth and fourteenth season in the CFL.

In one month, he would have been a free agent.

Bryant is the only lineman in league history to win the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award four times. He has played 170 games in his career with the Bombers and will be 38 years old when training camp starts.

Bryant, a seven-time CFL All-Star, is an obvious candidate for the Hall of Fame. He has been selected six times as the Bombers’ best offensive lineman (in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022).

Bryant, who covered the blind side of the quarterback last season, contributed to the Bombers allowing the second-fewest sacks allowed in the league.

Only two of their five starting offensive linemen, Patrick Neufeld included, have contracts until 2024; he is the only other one. Chris Kolankowski, Geoff Grey, and Jermarcus Hardrick are all still pending free agents.

On Wednesday, Bryant will have a media conference.

With 27 pending free agents left, the Bombers have also modified receiver Kenny Lawler’s deal to free up additional salary budget money.

On February 13, CFL free agency kicks off.
