Kendrick Blackshire led the Crimson Tide with 16 total tackles, one forced fumble, and one special teams tackle in just six games as a junior.

There is still a roster churn.

Alabama linebacker Kendrick Blackshire, who will join wide receiver Isaiah Bond as the second Crimson Tide athlete to transfer to the Longhorns, confirmed his transfer commitment to Texas on Tuesday.

Blackshire, a former Duncanville, Texas, four-star recruit, led the Crimson Tide in tackles as a junior with 16.

After high school, Blackshire was ranked as the 168th best player overall and the 21st best linebacker in the nation. During the COVID recruiting season, he committed early to Alabama, where he was coached by current Texas assistant Jeff Banks.

In addition to managing the high school levels, new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer will have to continue recruiting his own team as players assess their situation.

In his opening press conference, DeBoer stated, “I understand that recruiting is the lifeblood of the program—and I could go on and on about how we will recruit.” “The players on the pitch are the ones who make the plays, even with our excellent coaches. It will take a persistent mentality, beginning with me and working my way down to our staff, to be the best of the best in the SEC and to win a national championship. I can’t wait to go in the office and start working.”
