On Tuesday night, Notre Dame extended an offer to 2025 Kissimmee (Fla.) Tohopekaliga defensive end Andrew Hines. A late riser, Hines has been getting more and more recruiting attention over the last couple of months. This recent offer was his biggest, and one that was extremely special.

“I was at the gym when my phone started ringing and it was the defensive coordinator Al Golden,” Hines told Irish Breakdown. “He ended up offering me a scholarship right there. I had always dreamed of playing at such a high level of football so it was really a blessing.

“I always loved the grit Notre Dame has that you can’t really find in any other program,” he continued. “They have a really different feel as a program.”

With Hines getting more and more attention as a recruit, things are getting busy for him. There are already some schools who are standing out most, with the Irish being on the shortlist early on.

“My recruiting has been going great and has taken off in terms of getting scholarships,” he said. “I’ve built a lot of great relationships with Power Five college coaches recently. Some of my top schools are Indiana, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and App State.”

As of now, there is a tentative timeline for making a college decision. Behind the scenes, there are already teams separating themselves.

“I will probably make my commitment around spring of 2024,” said Hines. “I have definitely narrowed my list down to my top four already.”

Hines is starting to gain tremendous traction on the recruiting trail. He currently holds offers from the Irish, Pittsburgh, Indiana, UCF, Appalachian State, Marshall, Ohio, James Madison and Richmond.
